PRESS

Iuvene Tempranillo (2010) - "Youthful purple. Straightforward black and blue fruits on the nose and palate. Plump and seamless in texture, with jammy blackberry and mulberry flavors gaining spiciness with air. Finishes smooth and persistent, leaving a bitter fruit skin note behind."

Iuvene Tempranillo (2009) - "Ruby-red. Cherry and plum on the nose, plus a hint of licorice. Plush dark fruit flavors are energized by a peppery quality and pick up a slightly roasted aspect with air. Easygoing, supple wine with good finishing cling and an echo of plum."

Iuvene Tempranillo (2009) - "The unoaked 2009 Iuvene is a light, forward, affable wine that shows off the high-class fruit of the 2009 vintage. Drink it over the next 2-3 years."

LORIñóN - BODEGAS Y VIñEDOS BRETóN WINERY INFO

Overview: In 2013 Bodegas Bretón and the Loriñón brand were acquired by the Montaña family and its winemaking entity, Unión de Viticultores Riojanos. UVR comprises over 350 hectares of mature to ancient vines that are either owned or under continuous contract throughout the Rioja Alta and Alavesa regions. Loriñón Crianza is almost entirely composed of old-vine Tempranillo, aged 14 months in a mixture of used American and French oak. The Reserva includes a higher percentage of the rare Graciano and utilizes a higher percentage of French oak, and is aged an additional year in bottle before release.

History: The Montañas trace their family wine business to grandfather Román Montaña, who began producing high quality Rioja wines in 1910. The current winemaking facility in Fuenmayor was built in 1989.

The first vintage of Loriñón was 1985. The founding Bretón family desired to restate and retain the elegant, authentic Rioja character that resulted from mature, low-yielding vineyards and careful aging. Thirty years later the demand for authenticity is equally acute, after a period in which globalization of style had become an unfortunate trend.

The Montaña family objective is to continue as well as to enhance the quality and philosophical trajectory of Loriñón wines, offering authentic character and great value. Working together with Loriñón’s longtime importers, the resulting wines have never been better or more representative of the founding philosophy.
